Listen free to Nas Nastradamus The Prediction, Life We Chose and more. 15 tracks 62:35. Nas has plenty of shots for his fellow New York MCs on the strutting, funk-sampling title track and the cocky Come Get Me, taunting his haters over DJ Premiers deft turntablism. But the highlight is Project Windows, an R&B slow-burner on which Nas paints a striking picture of growing up in the projects during the 70s. Nastradamus, 1999. The Prediction, 01:19. Life We Chose, 04:08. Nas - Nastradamus review: I would talk about killin more, but that was the 16th bar and we gotta go to the chorus now. I want to be a marketable murderer. Hannibal Buress. If Nastradamus serves any purpose, it should serve as a handbook on how to not make a chorus. Theyre either so long winded and clumsy you dont even realize its supposed to be the hook until it shows up the second time Last Words or hilariously inept Shoot em up, just shoot em up, what Kill kill kill, murder murder murder It doesnt help that every beat on the album sounds like a preset loop on a Casio keyboard. It could have been an intriguing concept album, but Nastradamus is continually compromised by tracks that don't contribute to the theme. For every emotional track like Some of Us Have Angels or God Love Us, there are the same old street-life anthems you'd expect to hear, like Shoot 'Em Up, Come Get Me, or You Owe Me. They sound OK thanks to production from . DJ Premier, and Timbaland, but the result is yet another drawn-out hip-hop album that wanders aimlessly and never really says anything. On Nastradamus, Nas is torn between socially conscious lyrics and the fear of forfeiting his ghetto pass if he rhymes about anything other than mayhem, murder and money. In spite of boasting talented producers like . There are some highlights: Project Windows features the mournful utterances of Ronald Isley and offers a glimpse of Nas Langston Hughes-like genius: Black hoods, cops and projectsSewers flooded with foul blockageThe gutters wild and every child watchesChains and top locks get ripped off hinges. Last Words shines because of its military drumbeat and chants, and the eeriness of Nas, Nashawn and Millennium Thugs naming themselves hanging slaves. Nastradamus is the fourth album by American rapper Nas, released in 1999 on Ill Will Records and Columbia Records. It was originally scheduled to be released as a follow-up album composed of material from recording sessions for his third album, I Am. which was released one month earlier. Due to bootlegging of the material, Nas recorded new music for Nastradamus to meet its November release date
