Album

It's Alive is the first live album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, titled after the 1974 horror film of the same name. It was recorded at the Rainbow Theatre in London on December 31, 1977, and released in April 1979 as a 2-LP set. The album draws material from the band's first three studio albums, Ramones 1976, Leave Home 1977, and Rocket to Russia 1977. Four concerts during the UK tour were recorded, but the New Year's Eve performance was chosen because ten rows of seats were. You see them mature from a barely fluent raw mess of 1974 to that London lightning raid, along the way memorably storming America's squares on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. It's all so astonishing, still. And looking, movingly, at three out of four dead members, and the equally deceased Max's and CBGB, you feel the awe for the fleeting cultural moment, never to be had again. Except here. The remaster of the It's Alive is great to have alongside all the other Ramones re-issues coming out. Most fans are probably aware of the original album, so the question is, do you need three other concerts recorded just before the released show, playing virtually the same playlist each time In my opinion, you can never have too much Ramones. That being said, I expect most people will find this a bit redundant. The main difference in the three earlier concerts is that the band knew the fourth show was going to be the one. Hence the earlier shows have a bit more lo. It's Alive is the first live album by the American punk band the Ramones. The album was originally released as a 2-LP set and draws material from the Ramones' first three albums. The concert. Title: The Ramones: It's Alive 1974-1996 Video 2007. Of particular note are three endearingly sloppy songs from CBGBs in 1974, a storming four-song set from 'Don Kirshner's Rock Concert' in 1977, and two songs from 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' with ace drummer Richie Ramone including an awesome version of Dee Dee's 'Wart Hog'. Sure, they got older and formulaic, but this DVD shrewdly emphasizes and showcases their glory years. About the only thing I could criticize about 'The Ramones: It's Alive 1974-1996' is the close-fitting glossy pink cover, which makes extracting the DVD case irksom.
