Album

Rachmaninoff Sonata In G Minor For Cello & Piano LP, Album. Sonic Arts. My main objection to the recording is with some of the interpretive choices. There are certain climactic moments in the first movement that are played most effectively when the cello reaches the top note while fading to a pianissimo. These artists choose instead to crescendo to an accented note. I find that jarring and unmusical, and I can't under. Rachmaninoff dedicated the work to Anatoliy Brandukov, who gave the first performance in Moscow with the composer at the piano, on 2 December 1901. Rachmaninoff seems to.
